**Position Summary**
The Forensic Behavioral Health Intervention Attorney will represent clients in a wide variety of criminal defense cases. This position will also provide assistance to clients in other areas of criminal defense. The position will involve working closely with clients to develop a comprehensive legal strategy that is tailored to the individual’s needs. The Attorney will also work with the State Attorney’s Office, the Office of the Public Defender, and community partners to ensure that clients receive the best possible outcome.

**Responsibilities**
- Represent clients in criminal defense cases involving behavioral health issues such as Baker Acts, competency, sanity, mitigation, diversion programs, and problem-solving courts.
- Work with clients to develop a comprehensive legal strategy that is tailored to the individual’s needs.
- Represent clients in juvenile and adult mental health courts, veterans’ treatment court, and drug courts.
- Work with the State Attorney’s Office, the Office of the Public Defender, and community partners to ensure that clients receive the best possible outcome.
- Provide legal advice to clients and their families.
- Prepare legal documents and motions related to criminal defense cases.
- Participate in court proceedings and hearings.
- Work with experts in the fields of psychology and psychiatry to assist in the defense of criminal cases.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records of all client interactions.

**Qualifications**
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
- Must have experience in criminal defense cases involving behavioral health issues.
- Experience in juvenile and adult mental health courts, veterans’ treatment court, and drug courts is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and their families.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
