As Litigation Management Counsel, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining all records and performance expectations of outside counsel. This includes participating in the vetting, onboarding, and oversight of all outside defense firms, as well as managing the Litigation Management Quality Assurance program. You will also be responsible for conducting audits and reviews to ensure compliance with litigation file handling guidelines and delivering best-in-class legal services.

Job Responsibilities:

- Evaluate and maintain current vendor partnerships and identify areas of opportunity
- Review new vendor requests and make appropriate recommendations
- Monitor compliance with vendor management strategy and develop tailored strategies with key service providers
- Act as liaison between firm relationship partners and Selective Insurance
- Solicit feedback from line of business staff to ensure best-in-class legal services are provided
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a viable and competitive vendor base
- Collaborate with Claims department on training materials and guidelines
- Conduct/participate in various quality assurance and other audits/reviews
- Provide effective and timely communication to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Litigation Management Unit staff and leadership on strategy and best practices
- Engage in other activities as directed by AVP, Litigation Management and VP, Claims General Counsel

Job Qualifications:

- 10+ years of active litigation experience preferred
- Private practice experience strongly preferred
- Experience with coaching, counseling, and professional development of legal staff preferred
- Detailed knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance for all P&C lines of business
- Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills
- Superior organizational and project management skills
- Ability to demonstrate independent judgment, research, litigation, and analytical skills
- In-house Property & Casualty experience required
- Legal case management software experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of State laws, local court procedures, and policies preferred
- Detailed knowledge of the business unit and industry preferred
