A law firm in Houston is seeking a Tax Controversy Associate Attorney with 4+ years of experience in tax disputes, litigation, audits, and appeals. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in federal income and estate/gift tax issues, along with strong communication skills and attention to detail. A degree in accounting, CPA license, or . in Tax is strongly preferred, and admission to practice in at least one state (Georgia is a plus) is required.

 

Duties:

  • Handle tax disputes, including controversies, litigation, audits, and appeals.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to clients in federal income and estate/gift tax matters.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on tax issues.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and hearings with tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals on complex tax matters.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 4+ years of experience in tax controversy.
  • Practical experience with tax disputes and federal tax issues.
  • Degree in accounting, CPA license, or . in Tax (strongly preferred).
  • Excellent academic and employment credentials.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one state (Georgia is a plus).
