Supervising Attorney Lawyers Preventing and Ending Homelessness Project Organization: Inner City Law Center Position: Supervising Attorney H1 Heading: Join Inner City Law Center and Help End Homelessness in Los Angeles H2 Heading: Supervising Attorney Opportunity Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm located in the Skid Row neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles. ICLC is looking for extraordinary people to help end homelessness in Los Angeles and is seeking a dynamic attorney and supervisor to join their team. This full-time position is an exciting opportunity to help provide high-quality legal services to clients who are experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness and people living with HIV. Job Description: • Supervise attorneys and paralegals with creative problem solving and litigation in six legal areas: Housing, Public Benefits, Consumer Debt, Criminal Record Expungement, Citations and Parking Tickets, and Obtaining Vital Documents • Provide substantive legal support to the team • Partner in furthering relationships with current and new funders • Assist in various areas in grant reporting • Help coordinate the various aspects of the team’s work • Take the lead on training new attorneys • Establish best practices for advocacy in the team’s substantive practice areas • Participate in legal clinics and other community outreach events • Serve as an integral part of ICLC's management team • Work closely with the team’s Directing Attorney, other Supervising Attorney, other ICLC teams, and with pro bono counsel H2 Heading: Hiring Criteria • Commitment to ICLC’s mission and values • At least six years of legal experience • Experience training and supervising legal staff • Excellent communication, teaching, and negotiation skills • Innovative and solution oriented • Ability to interact with a wide range of clients utilizing client-centered lawyers and trauma-informed frameworks • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate relationships with clients, team members, and partner organizations • Desire to mentor junior staff, work as part of a team, and collaborate with projects staff and partners • Comfort and readiness to participate in creative and aggressive civil litigation, including restraining orders and unlawful detainer trials • Ability to use good judgment, multitask and meet deadlines • Access to reliable transportation • Admitted to the CA State Bar or in another state and eligible to practice as a Registered Legal Aid Attorney under rule of the California Rules of Court H2 Heading: Compensation Salary ranges from $91,000 to $107,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
