SALT Senior Associate, Financial Services and Partnership Specialization

Overview:

- The STS Tax Senior, State and Local Tax, applies industry knowledge and experience to clients by assisting in providing advice related to tax implications of their business objectives.
- This role also serves as primary contact for the clients and is responsible for managing relationships, conducting research, ensuring tax compliance, and providing tax consulting services.
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, two or more years of state and local/multistate experience, and preferably a CPA certification or other relevant certification.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct research to understand potential tax issues, evaluate and select alternative actions, and identify potential changes in tax policy.
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Utilize tax compliance knowledge with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain relationships with in-state and out-of-state Department of Tax personnel.
- Provide assistance with exam support.
- Train staff on current software tools.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of one or more areas of taxation and manage specialization services efficiently.
- Review basic tax provisions and apply firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to advance the position of clients and the firm.
- Build client relationships, market, network, and assist in business development.
- Educate and advise professionals regarding state and local tax law and develop their careers.
- Supervise work assignments of STS SALT Associates and mentor and assist in their professional development.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or . preferred.
- Two or more years of state and local/multistate experience required.
- CPA certification or other relevant certification preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and research abilities.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
- Advanced knowledge of all tax return forms.
- Excellent people development and delegation skills.
- Ability to encourage a team environment.
- Basic understanding of tax compliance and the ability to represent clients before tax authorities.
- Working knowledge of appropriate application of tax standards and sources of relevant information.
- Ability to create written tax advice.
- Understanding of tax strategies and documentation.
- Possesses excellent decision-making skills.

Compensation:

- Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
- National Range: $70,000 - $125,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $70,000 - $125,000
