Job Overview: A law firm in Chattanooga, TN, is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory/Corporate Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience. Duties:

  • Handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
  • Manage matters before or involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets.
  • Engage in advocacy before state utility commissions.
  • Participate in power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related matters.
  • Provide legal counsel and advice on energy regulatory and corporate issues.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and represent clients in legal proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Active Bar license in TN.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience handling regulatory and compliance matters before state energy regulatory commissions.
  • Knowledge of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs.
  • Expertise in advocacy before state utility commissions.
  • Familiarity with power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in Tennessee.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Superior judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effective project management skills.
