Summary The Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise (NNGE) is looking for a Staff Attorney to provide legal services and ensure maximum protection of its legal rights. The successful applicant must have a Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school and five (5) years of attorney experience, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience with the Navajo Nation or other Tribal government legal system. Regulation and legal drafting experience is also required. State Bar License, New Mexico, or Arizona is preferred, while a Navajo Nation Bar License is required. Job Title: Staff Attorney Department: Corporate - Administration Location: Farmington, NM Job Duties and Responsibilities • Provide legal services to the NNGE to ensure maximum protection of its legal rights • Identify legal liabilities and maintain operations within the limits prescribed by law • Advise and counsel NNGE officers, management, and departments on the implementation of NNGE’s mission and operations • Maintain strict confidentiality of privileged information • Draft and review legal documents • Represent the NNGE in court proceedings Minimum Qualifications • Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school • Five (5) years attorney experience with a minimum of two (2) years of experience with the Navajo Nation or other Tribal government legal system • Regulation and legal drafting experience • State Bar License, New Mexico, or Arizona preferred • Navajo Nation Bar License required • Management and gaming experience preferred • Must meet all knowledge skills and abilities • Valid driver’s license • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, background investigation, and obtain and maintain gaming licenses • Navajo preference applies Salary Information Compensation for the Staff Attorney position will be commensurate with experience.
