## Atlanta Legal Aid Society - Staff Attorney **Organization:** Atlanta Legal Aid Society **Job Title:** Staff Attorney **Location:** Gwinnett County, Georgia The Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) is seeking a Staff Attorney to focus on advice and brief service in its Gwinnett County office and the Gwinnett County Law Library located in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Our non-profit law firm represents low-income people in a variety of civil legal matters including family, housing, consumer, public benefits, education and health law. The Gwinnett County office is currently comprised of a managing attorney, 6 full-time attorneys, a part-time attorney, 4 paralegals, and 2 support staff. **Responsibilities:** - Provide consultations, brief service, and advice in civil legal matters 3 days a week in the Gwinnett County Law Library - Create and revise pro se family law forms, brochures, and other resources 2 days a week in the Gwinnett County office - Develop and deliver quarterly presentations on legal topics relevant to pro se litigants **Qualifications:** - Georgia bar license and at least 3 years of litigation experience in the area of family law - Excellent legal writing skills - Good communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work in a team and alone - Adaptability - Appreciation of diversity - Experience in housing, consumer, public benefits, education, and health law - Demonstrated commitment to public service - Prior work with low-income people - Participation in law school clinics and trial advocacy courses - Proficiency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish **Salary and Benefits:** - This is a grant-funded position expected to continue through 2024 with the potential for annual renewal - Salary is $59,600+ depending on experience - Salaries increase annually based on a salary scale - Generous fringe benefits including 13 paid holidays, 6 weeks paid time off, 6 weeks parental leave - Health, life, and long and short-term disability insurance - Partial payment for dependent health insurance - Flexible spending account - Educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month - Voluntary tax-sheltered annuity with 3% match - Georgia Bar dues and CLE expenses **Application Requirements:** - Letter of interest - Resume - Writing sample (advice letter, pleading, legal memorandum, or brief) - Official law school transcript - Names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of three professional references (preferably individuals who have supervised or managed your work) Submit the above requirements as one (1) PDF using the online application system at .
