Job Overview:

• Provide legal counsel on data security incidents, regulatory investigations, and compliance matters.
• Draft, revise, and negotiate data and technology contracts.
• Advise on privacy issues and compliance with cybersecurity laws.
• Liaise with M&A deal teams and other colleagues on cybersecurity matters.

Duties:

• Advise clients on compliance with cybersecurity laws.
• Handle state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.
• Defend regulatory investigations related to security.
• Prepare public-facing consumer disclosures and internal company policies.
• Assist in drafting data and technology contracts.
• Provide counsel on privacy issues as needed.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of legal experience in cybersecurity counseling and incident response.
• Foundational knowledge of federal, state, and foreign cybersecurity laws.
• Motivation to learn and understand technology and forensic investigations.
• Experience liaising with claims counsel, forensic experts, and vendors.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Project management experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to continued professional development in cybersecurity and data privacy laws.
• Admission to MA Bar.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
