A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking a Mid-level Financial Services Regulatory Associate Attorney to provide comprehensive legal support on financial services regulatory matters. The candidate will be responsible for conducting research, providing advice, drafting documents, and contributing to business development initiatives. The position requires strong academic credentials and a keen understanding of the financial regulatory landscape.

Duties:

  • Research, advise, and prepare memoranda and opinions on financial services regulatory (FSR) matters.
  • Negotiate and draft commercial agreements, terms of service, policies, procedures, and other transactional documents.
  • Coordinate with adjunct capital markets, M&A, finance, litigation, and other teams to provide financial services expertise in transactional and enforcement matters.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as a team on FSR matters for clients.
  • Actively participate in FSR team meetings and initiatives.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including client pitches.
  • Assist in writing client alerts and articles on FSR matters.
  • Attend Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and other relevant programs to enhance expertise in FSR practice.
  • Help develop and present programs for the debt finance team on relevant FSR issues.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic record.
  • Commercial and business awareness.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Long-term interest in business law.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Transactional experience is a plus.
  • Prior work experience with a financial institution or in a fintech role is welcome.
  • Educational experience in business (MBA, CFA, etc.) would be a plus.
  • Experience at a Federal banking agency (FED, OCC, or FDIC) is also a plus.
  • Proven contract drafting and writing skills.
  • Knowledgeable about research resources and committed to producing high-quality, accurate work.

Certifications/Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to navigate the complex and fast-evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when necessary.
