As a member of the Legal Compliance Organization, the Associate Trade Compliance Counsel will play a crucial role in protecting the company's legal, ethical, and financial integrity. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business and corporate teams, resolving issues related to trade compliance and providing legal guidance and advice. The ideal candidate will have a law degree from an accredited . law school and be a member in good standing of the Michigan bar. Key Responsibilities: • Gain a thorough understanding of the company's trade-compliance goals and challenges, particularly in the . and China. • Identify, analyze, and provide solutions to complex trade-compliance issues, collaborating with team members to develop effective strategies. • Develop policies, procedures, and checklists to ensure compliance and improve processes and controls. • Advise global trade team members and other departments on trade-compliance matters. • Work with outside counsel and cross-functional teams to address trade-compliance gaps. • Conduct trade-compliance training and support the Global Trade Compliance team. • Assist with trade compliance during merger and acquisition due diligence and integration activities. • Communicate legal issues and opportunities to internal teams and support internal investigations, audits, and risk assessments. • Occasionally travel to domestic and international offices. • Support other projects, initiatives, and strategic opportunities as needed. Qualifications: • Law degree from an accredited . law school and admission to the Michigan bar. • At least 3-5 years of legal experience in trade compliance, preferably in a . multinational technology company or the semiconductor industry. • Technical/engineering background is a plus. • Proficiency in . trade-compliance regulations, with a focus on trade law. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with clients at all levels of the organization. • Independent and persistent, able to make sound judgments while managing legal risk. • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently. • A drive to continuously improve and develop professional skills.
