Job Title: Counsel - HSE and Product Stewardship

The Counsel - HSE and Product Stewardship will work with the Senior Counsel to support Westlake's HSE and Product Stewardship organization. This role requires a team-oriented, innovative, and strategic individual with strong business acumen and legal expertise. The Counsel will provide legal counsel on environmental and regulatory issues, stay updated on changes in laws and regulations, and work with HSE stakeholders to mitigate potential liability.

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice to HSE professionals and business unit stakeholders on health, safety, and environmental law issues
- Support environmental remediation obligations, review audits, and develop/review policies and procedures
- Assist in responding to administrative charges/complaints/investigations and represent the company in hearings
- Manage outside counsel on HSE-related litigation or enforcement actions
- Conduct legal research on health, safety, and environmental issues
- Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations

Requirements:

- Juris Doctorate degree and licensed to practice law in Texas or eligible to practice as an in-house corporate attorney
- Minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in chemical, refining, manufacturing, or building products sectors
- Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal and business requirements
- Strong writing and verbal skills
- Ability to interpret complex regulations

Physical Demands:

- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, and talking/hearing
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds
