A law firm is seeking a Senior Trusts And Estates Attorney for its San Francisco, CA, location. The successful candidate will meet or exceed the minimum billable hours requirement and have expertise in Federal and California state tax law. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing plans for high-net-worth clients
  • Drafting irrevocable trusts such as Crummey, intentionally defective grantor, irrevocable life insurance, charitable split-interest, and grantor-retained annuity trusts.
  • Planning for blended families, generation-skipping transfer tax planning, international estate planning, and cross-border issues
  • Handling fiduciary income tax issues and preparation of estate tax returns and gift tax returns
  • Managing complex trust administrations
  • Performing initial client intake calls and shepherding the CRMs through engagement
  • Conducting legal research
  • Managing and organizing client files, as well as keeping client database and document management system up to date

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate
  • An active member of California State Bar
  • Expertise in Federal tax law and California state tax law is required
  • . in Tax preferred
  • Prior experience taking the lead role in client meetings
  • Prior experience managing client communications and expectations
  • 5 years of recent experience designing plans for high-net-worth clients and complex trust administration
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Solid command of English, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form, and style
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage a team, set goals, and mentor others
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well with a team and individually
