A law firm seeks an Employment Associate Counsel for its New York City office. The candidate will report directly to the Deputy Chief Employment Counsel and collaborate closely with the Chief Employment Counsel. The counsel will play a vital role in safeguarding the firm's legal interests and ensuring compliance with employment laws. They will provide strategic guidance on various employment matters and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and processes.

 

Duties:

  • Assist in protecting the firm's legal interests and ensuring compliance with employment laws.
  • Provide pragmatic advice and strategic support on various employment law issues including hiring, performance management, compensation, accommodations, and diversity programs.
  • Draft employment-related guidelines and policies.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes to maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Provide expertise and counsel on employment-related projects, internal process reviews, policy roll-outs, and training programs.
  • Handle employment-related disputes, investigations, and litigation with support from the Deputy Chief Employment Counsel.
  • Monitor developments in employment law in jurisdictions where the firm has offices and identify emerging trends.

 

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of related experience in employment counseling and litigation or litigation management.
  • Prior in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
