Job Overview: A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Construction Defect Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of clients' defense in conjunction with guidance and direction from the firm’s partners. This primarily includes defending general contractors and subcontractors against claims related to either commercial or residential construction.

Duties:

  • Provide legal representation to clients in construction defect litigation matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support defense strategies.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as necessary.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in litigation.
  • Collaborate with partners and other attorneys to develop case strategies and tactics.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing.
  • 0-10 years of experience practicing law, focusing on construction defect litigation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas civil procedure and evidence rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
