The Role:

- Eaton, a global company, is hiring a Senior Counsel with expertise in Intellectual Property/Trademark/Copyright.
- The position is available in three key markets: Beachwood, Ohio; Moon Township, Pennsylvania; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Relocation assistance will be offered and there will be 10% travel required.

Job Description:

- The primary responsibilities of the Senior Counsel will include providing guidance on patentability, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, conducting right-to-use studies, managing a significant patent portfolio, and providing guidance for IP litigation.
- The Senior Counsel will also be responsible for conducting trademark clearance searches, filing and prosecuting trademark applications, enforcing trademark rights, and managing outside counsel and vendors.
- Other duties include providing IP education and training, conducting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and advising on trademark licensing and co-branding agreements.
- The Senior Counsel will work collaboratively with a global team of IP professionals and provide trainings and counsel to the Law Department and business partners.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 12 years’ experience practicing intellectual property law, with a focus on trademark and copyright
- Must be a registered US patent attorney/agent
- Juris doctorate degree and a Bachelor's degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering
- Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
- Relocation will be offered to one of the three key markets listed for this role

Skills:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to advise on IP risks and strategies
- Experience managing patent portfolios and conducting due diligence for M&A activities

Salary Information:

- Expected annual salary range for this role is $172, - $253, a year
- Eligible for a variable incentive program
- Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations
