Organization is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join their team as Deputy Bureau Chief in the Government Representation Bureau. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Bureau Chief with supervising five attorneys and eight support staff as well as handling litigation matters.

Job Description:

The Deputy Bureau Chief is responsible for providing legal representation to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. This includes representing the Department in administrative review cases from either benefit or tax decisions, in civil collections of both benefit overpayment and non-payment of unemployment insurance taxes, in bankruptcy cases, in miscellaneous cases involving the administration of the employment security programs and handling subpoenas or other official requests for information.

The Deputy Bureau Chief will report directly to the Bureau Chief and is responsible for supervising five attorneys and eight support staff. The successful candidate will also be responsible for handling litigation matters and providing legal advice to the Department.

Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois at the time of application
• 10 or more years of litigation experience
• Excellent communication and management skills

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and is funded by the Department of Employment Security.
