- The United States Trustee Program (USTP) is a litigating component of the Department of Justice (DOJ) with a mission to promote the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system.
- The USTP has 21 regions and 89 field offices throughout the country, making it the only participant in the bankruptcy process with the ability to address national issues of fraud and abuse.

- Law student volunteers will have the opportunity to work with the Executive Office for . Trustees (EOUST) in Washington, DC, or in one of the 89 field offices located throughout the country.
- The Director and Deputy Director for Field Operations oversee the USTP and its objectives, and interns will directly assist them in a variety of projects and studies related to consumer and chapter 11 bankruptcy law.
- Successful candidates will be second- and third-year law students with excellent research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to fairness and integrity in the administration of the bankruptcy system.
- Law student volunteers will not receive compensation, but academic credit and transit subsidies may be available.
