Florida Attorney General's Internship Program

Application Deadlines: Fall: June 30

Civil Litigation (L,J,Ta,W,T)

- Represent the State, its agencies, officers, employees, and agents in trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts
- Handle class action civil lawsuits and civil actions including administrative, bankruptcy, corrections, eminent domain, employment, forfeitures, foreclosures, state programs, and tort litigation
- Protect the public's interest through common law duties and responsibilities
- Serve as the attorney for the State of Florida and member of the Florida Cabinet
- Gain practical experience in a legal field and perform meaningful work towards completion of degree

Internship Opportunities:

- Available to law students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school
- Unpaid internships for academic credit or through law school sponsored programs
- Minimum of 20 hours per week required
- Number and locations of opportunities based on agency need and availability
- Applications accepted on a rolling basis, but early application encouraged

Application Deadlines:

- Summer: January 31 (extended to March 1 for 2024)
- Fall: June 30
- Spring: September 30

Internship Requirements:

- Application for Internship
- Resume
- Letter from advisor or university confirming enrollment and eligibility for academic credit or participation in a law school sponsored program
- Official transcript (unofficial accepted, but official required if selected)
- Writing sample for 2nd and 3rd year law students at time of interview if selected

Application Process:

- Complete and submit application packet prior to deadline
- Rank top 3 choices for internships in order of preference
- Available internship positions in various divisions including Antitrust, Capital Appeals, Civil Appeals, Civil Legal Services, Civil Litigation, Criminal Appeals, Consumer Protection, Cyber Fraud Unit, Executive Staff, Medicaid Fraud Control, Solicitor General, and Statewide Prosecution
- Must be eligible to receive academic credit or participate in a law school sponsored program, documentation required
- Contact information of academic advisor required
- Must certify eligibility and provide background information

Background Information:

- Must report adult criminal history information, regardless of sealed or expunged records
- Must disclose any arrests, charges, convictions, or pleas for felony or misdemeanor offenses
- A "Yes" answer does not necessarily disqualify, but nature, severity, and date of offense will be considered
- Certification required for accuracy and consent for release of information
