A law firm in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Labor and Employment Attorney to work with partners and counsel in the office. The position will primarily involve employment litigation work with some public and private sector traditional labor work. The expected annual hours for this position are 1750 hours. The ideal candidate must hold a . degree and be admitted to the Ohio Bar. While labor & employment law experience is preferred, candidates with strong litigation backgrounds will also be considered.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with partners and counsel on labor and employment matters.
  • Handle employment litigation matters, including discrimination claims, wrongful termination suits, wage and hour disputes, and employment contract disputes.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to clients in traditional labor matters, such as union negotiations, collective bargaining agreements, and unfair labor practice charges.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Participate in client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials as needed.
  • Manage case files, including document review, organization, and preparation for hearings and trials.
  • Stay abreast of developments in labor and employment law, including changes in statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Assist with client counseling and compliance matters related to labor and employment law.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Ohio Bar.
  • Previous experience in labor and employment law preferred.
  • Strong litigation skills and experience with employment-related disputes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Ohio.
