Job Summary: Thomson Reuters is seeking a Legal Counsel for their Customers & Commercial team to provide commercial legal services in a technology-enabled, data-driven corporate legal department. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating customer and partner agreements, identifying legal issues and risks, and providing sound legal and business advice to internal customers. This role is available in three locations: Carrollton, Texas, Toronto, Ontario, and Eagan, Minnesota. Responsibilities: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of customer and partner agreements, including software, information licensing, re-distribution, hosting, and services agreements. Identify and analyze legal issues, and develop and implement mitigation strategies. Respond to general legal inquiries from internal customers and provide appropriate legal advice. Contribute to knowledge management initiatives and foster a culture of knowledge sharing. Provide strategic and practical business advice. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders, and prioritize and manage multiple matters simultaneously. Qualifications: 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in private practice and/or as in-house legal counsel. Strong understanding of contract and commercial law, with experience in SaaS products and solutions. Excellent negotiation and drafting skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to think creatively and strategically, and identify and resolve legal issues. Experience or interest in using AI tools and other legal technology. Authorized to practice law. Ability to work in a team and matrixed organization, and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to handle multiple matters and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
