VLA Legal Internships (Fall): Gain Hands-On Experience in Arts-Related Legal Matters Organization: Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) Job Title: Legal Intern Experience: Salary: Unpaid; available for school credit Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York (hybrid in-office/work-from-home model) Overview: Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) is currently accepting applications for their legal internships for the fall semester. These internships are designed for current law students who are interested in pursuing a career in the arts and are committed to public service. The internship provides hands-on training in various areas of law, including intellectual property, contract, and non-profit and for-profit corporate matters. Responsibilities: - Reviewing intake files and preparing memoranda on key legal and factual issues - Participating in client consultations and managing case files for referral to pro bono counsel - Conducting legal research, writing, and case management for ongoing matters - Assisting with education and development programming by creating presentation materials and teaching classes on legal and business issues for artists and arts organizations Essential Skills: - Demonstrated interest in the arts and public service - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to work well in a team and fast-paced environment - Strong multitasking and attention to detail - Proficiency in legal research and writing - Prior coursework and experience in intellectual property and/or the arts preferred To Apply: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcript to with “Legal Internship” in the subject line.
