Austin office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks an associate attorney with 3 years of legal experience. The candidate will manage a high-volume taxpayer litigation docket-including client communications, filing, discovery, settlement negotiations (by phone/in-person/mediations/arbitrations), depositions, expert designation/appraisals, court appearances, etc. Will advise and counsel clients on various property tax issues. Represent client interests in administrative appeal hearings and in court. Negotiate with opposing counsel and appraisal district representatives. Assist in daily client service activities, including client meetings, hearings, and mediation. Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, opposing counsel, and county appraisal district representatives. Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the client's business needs, including real estate valuation and property tax issues. Review county appraisal district assessment valuations for accuracy and determine if appeals are warranted. Present property tax appeals at informal meetings with appraisal district representatives and formal appraisal review board hearings. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with appraisal district staff and their legal representation. Attend legal and appraisal conferences and classes. Write articles and speak at conferences. Participate in law firm committees and events. Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel essential. An active Texas status is required.
