As a Patent Counsel at GSK, you will have the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career while making a difference in patients' lives. This role will involve building patent strategies for medicines and technologies, as well as ensuring freedom-to-operate for therapeutics in GSK's portfolio. As a valued team member, you will also have the chance to work with a large team of in-house patent attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, and interact with major areas of the business including commercial, clinical, regulatory, business development, manufacturing and supply, and transactional groups. This is an ideal opportunity for a patent attorney with a passion for driving efficiency in patents and intellectual property, and a desire to work with teams developing medicines and technologies to positively impact the health of a global community. Some key responsibilities of this role include: - Building and managing patent portfolios related to cutting-edge pharmaceutical products - Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the US and foreign jurisdictions - Supporting the larger R&D organization through client counseling, invention spotting, and freedom-to-operate analysis - Exposure to, and interaction with, major areas of the business including commercial, clinical, regulatory, business development, manufacturing and supply, and transactional groups - Support of US and non-US litigation, oppositions, IPRs, or other judicial and non-judicial proceedings around the world In order to be successful in this role, we are looking for professionals with a US law degree, a bachelor's degree in a life science field, and 1+ years of patent prosecution experience. You should also have strong communication skills and the ability to work well with an international, multicultural, diverse team located in different jurisdictions and time zones. This role will require you to work at a GSK site in Durham, NC; Rockville, MD; or Upper Providence, PA two to three days per week, with occasional, multi-day business trips.
