Queens Legal Services encourages applicants to share their vaccination status in their application materials. Interns will receive a stipend of $7500 for the summer. Queens Legal Services (QLS) is currently seeking interns for Summer 2024 to join our team in fighting poverty and seeking justice for low-income New Yorkers. As a part of Legal Services NYC, the largest civil legal aid provider in the nation, QLS provides civil legal services and advocacy to those in need. We are dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for both our staff and the individuals we serve. Interns will have the opportunity to work in the following programs: - The Access to Education Project, which provides legal support for children and families in special education matters and disciplinary proceedings. Responsibilities for interns may include conducting client interviews, investigating cases, appearing in court and administrative proceedings with attorneys, conducting legal research, and writing memoranda of law. Additionally, interns may have the chance to work closely with community partners and provide Know Your Rights clinics, workshops, and legal education programs. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about social justice and have a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
