BDO is currently seeking an International Tax Associate for our Summer 2024 program in Dallas, TX. This position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $110,000, depending on qualifications and experience. As a member of the International Tax Services team, the Tax Associate will gain exposure to a variety of cross-border tax issues and have the opportunity to develop a specialization in one or more international tax areas. The Tax Associate will also have the opportunity to work with clients from various industries and collaborate with BDO colleagues from over 160 countries.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide tax consulting services to clients on international tax issues, utilizing critical thinking skills and tax research.
- Assist in developing work plans for assigned clients and gain exposure to international tax law relevant to specific clients.
- Stay updated on daily changes in tax law and client developments.
- Coordinate with BDO colleagues in other countries to understand how US tax rules align with foreign tax law.
- Begin to specialize in one or more international tax areas and develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues.
- Conduct research on tax issues, identify reliable and relevant sources of information, and analyze facts and authorities.
- Assist in preparing Written Tax Advice on international tax and cross-border transactions.
- Help obtain client information for the preparation of international tax compliance forms and US international informational reporting.
- Gain a basic understanding of tax compliance, including using tax software, understanding international tax topics, and analyzing cross-border transactions.
- Learn about representing clients before the IRS on contested issues.
- Utilize tax research databases and tax-related software.
- Develop a basic understanding of ASC 740-10 as it applies to international tax issues.
- Adhere to Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other business-related major, preferred.
- ., LLM, and/or MST/MBT, preferred.
- Internship within a professional services firm, preferred.
- Tax experience, preferred.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases such as RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis, and/or Westlaw, preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and legal and tax research skills.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet project deadlines and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding taxation and law.
- Basic knowledge of general calculations and taxable conditions.
- Strong legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method of analysis.
- In-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding taxation.
