The Opportunity:

- Senior Counsel – Environmental role in the Legal Division.
- Work from Abbott Park or Willis Tower location.
- Provide oversight for complex elements of Abbott's global Sustainability program.
- Partner with internal clients, including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), to identify and address climate and environmental risks.
- Responsible for legal analysis, risk assessments, and remediation of environmental issues.
- Partner with Global Sustainability on environmental topics and projects related to Abbott's 2030 Global Sustainability Plan goals and targets.

What You'll Work On:

- Provide leadership and guidance on complex legal and regulatory issues related to environmental topics.
- Track and evaluate new and emerging global legislation, regulations, and guidance on environmental, sustainability, and safety issues.
- Review regulatory and industry trends and recommend responsive actions and program modifications.
- Partner with EHS, Finance, and Global Sustainability on climate-related and environmental liability reporting.
- Ensure compliance with corporate, divisional, and affiliate environmental-related ESG policies and procedures.
- Lead cross-functional teams on other complex issues or projects.

Required Qualifications:

- JD or foreign equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, government affairs, or finance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Understanding of legal requirements for US and international environmental laws.
- Familiarity with voluntary reporting frameworks such as the Climate Disclosure Project and TCFD.
