The Office of the New York State Attorney General is seeking skilled Project Attorneys to join its Adult Survivors Act (ASA) Unit. This team of attorneys will be responsible for defending claims made against the State of New York in the Court of Claims. The selected attorneys will work collaboratively as a statewide team, while also handling cases in a specific region. This is a 24-month term position with the possibility of extending for an additional 12 months.

Responsibilities:

- Handling all phases of litigation from inception through trial
- Drafting pleadings and papers
- Motion practice, including analysis, research, drafting, and oral arguments
- Discovery, including interrogatories, document discovery, and depositions
- Selecting and working with expert witnesses
- Negotiating settlements
- Trial preparation
- Representing the State of New York at mediation and trial

Qualifications:

- At least three (3) years of post-graduate legal experience, including civil and/or criminal trial experience
- Admitted to practice law in New York State
- Strong legal research, writing, analysis, negotiation, oral advocacy, and organizational skills
- Experience defending or prosecuting sexual assault cases is a plus
- Must reside in (or intend to become a resident of) New York State
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Commitment to completing a two (2) year term
