Position Description:

NIP Group is a rapidly growing insurance service provider, offering specialty programs for commercial insurance brokers and carriers. We are currently seeking a Claims Counsel to join our team, specifically for our subsidiary, Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange. This position will be responsible for handling medical professional liability claims and regulatory matters for our physician member insureds. The role requires a strong background in litigation and knowledge of the healthcare field.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage medical professional liability claims for Conventus physician member insureds
- Review relevant documents and conduct interviews to determine liability and damages
- Collaborate with appointed panel counsel to develop litigation strategies
- Attend depositions, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials
- Enforce litigation guidelines and strategies
- Conduct legal and other research on medical/legal issues
- Assist with statistical reporting and generate claim and loss reports
- Act as a resource and consultant for other departmental personnel
- Attend sales calls to present claims handling guidelines and services
- Participate in internal and external activities to improve effectiveness and teamwork between departments
- Stay updated on healthcare industry and claims management standards

Requirements:

- 2+ years of experience managing or litigating healthcare claims
- JD degree preferred
- Familiarity with New Jersey medical malpractice law preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in teams
- High level of integrity and dependability
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
