Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fidelity and Surety Counsel with a background in commercial litigation. The ideal candidate should possess at least 7 years of experience, demonstrating expertise in litigating cases within the federal and state courts of New York and New Jersey. Knowledge and experience in surety, construction litigation, and/or insurance coverage matters are advantageous. Admission to the New Jersey and New York Bars is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Duties:

  • Conducting legal research and analysis related to fidelity and surety matters.
  • Representing clients in federal and state courts in New York and New Jersey.
  • Handling cases involving commercial litigation, surety, construction litigation, and insurance coverage matters.
  • Drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Providing legal advice and counsel to clients on fidelity and surety issues.
  • Participating in negotiations, mediations, and settlements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a commercial litigator.
  • Significant experience in litigating cases in the federal and state courts of New York and New Jersey.
  • Experience with surety, construction litigation, and/or insurance coverage matters is a plus.
  • Admission to the New Jersey and New York Bars.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New Jersey and New York Bars.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle a high caseload and work independently.
  • Negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in legal documentation.
