H2: Responsibilities

• Investigates and prosecutes Brooklyn’s homicides, including many of the boroughs most complex and high-profile murder cases.
• Serves as legal adviser to the police in homicide cases.
• Handles high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
• Thinks and works independently as well as the ability to work in conjunction with other bureaus in the Office as well as with outside agencies.
• Has at least five years of litigation experience and a record of jury trial verdicts.
• Proficient in the penal code and the law with a strong understanding of legal concepts.
• Ability to assess strengths and weakness in cases.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Strong court room advocacy skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team.

H2: Qualifications

• At least five years of litigation experience.
• Record of jury trial verdicts.
• Solid knowledge of criminal procedure, search and seizure law, and evidence.

The Homicide Bureau investigates and prosecutes a large majority of Brooklyn’s homicides, including many of the boroughs most complex and high-profile murder cases. The bureau, which is comprised of some of the agency’s most experienced assistant district attorneys, also serves as legal adviser to the police in homicide cases.

Applicants must be able to handle high volume of work in a fast-paced environment. In addition, applicants for these positions should have the ability to think and work independently as well as the ability to work in conjunction with other bureaus in the Office as well as with outside agencies.

Applicants should have at least five years of litigation experience and a record of jury trial verdicts. Solid knowledge of criminal procedure, search and seizure law, and evidence is required.
