Florida Attorney General's Internship Program – Civil Legal Services - Child Support Enforcement

- Application deadlines for fall, spring, and summer terms
- Opportunity to gain practical experience in a legal field
- Perform meaningful work toward the completion of your degree
- Available to law students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school
- Unpaid internship for academic credit or through participation in law school sponsored programs
- Must be able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Number and locations of internships based on agency need and opportunity
- Application packet must be completed and submitted prior to deadline
- Applications accepted on a rolling basis
- Security screening and background check required
- Must be eligible to receive academic credit or participate in a law school sponsored program
- Interns will assist with various legal services for state agencies and boards
- Opportunities available in various divisions and locations throughout Florida

Overview of Civil Legal Services Division:

- Provides legal services to state agencies through contracts
- Represents agencies in Division of Administrative Hearings, Circuit Court, Appellate Courts
- Offers general counsel services for state agencies in Florida
- Ensures interests of the state and taxpayers are protected in legal arena

Overview of Child Support Enforcement Bureau:

- Represents Department of Revenue in 12 counties in Florida
- Services include establishment and enforcement of child support orders
- Provides appellate representation for cases throughout the state
- Attorneys appear in front of various judges and hearing officers

Organization Information:

- Attorney General serves as attorney for State of Florida and member of Florida Cabinet
- Interning for the Office of the Attorney General offers practical experience and meaningful work
- Open to law students seeking academic credit or participating in law school sponsored programs
- Documentation must be provided
- Interns must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Opportunities based on agency need and availability

Certification:

- Any omissions, falsifications, or misrepresentations may result in disqualification or release from the program
- Information provided may be investigated
- Consent for release of information from previous employers, schools, and law enforcement agencies
- Must be signed and dated by applicant
