A law firm is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Trusts and Estates Litigation Attorney to join their San Francisco, CA team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties and should possess specific qualifications outlined below:

Job Overview:

The Senior Trusts and Estates Litigation Attorney will review and draft legal documents, participate in dispute resolution processes, conduct legal research, manage caseloads, and ensure compliance with internal and statutory deadlines. The individual will collaborate with colleagues to develop effective litigation strategies, maintain high ethical standards, and provide excellent client service.

Duties:

  • Review and draft communications, pleadings, and discovery documents.
  • Participate in mediations, mandatory settlement conferences, trials, or arbitrations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court staff.
  • Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Maintain high standards for professionalism, ethics, and work quality.
  • Conduct legal research using Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Meet or exceed billable hours requirements.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage own caseload efficiently.
  • Manage and meet internal and statutory deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of recent experience in civil litigation, with a preference for probate and trust litigation experience.
  • An active member of the California State Bar.
  • Proficiency in California Rules of Court and local rules.
  • Experience with LexisNexis or Westlaw and law firm client management software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the California probate and trust administration process is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work effectively with support staff.
  • Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, dependability, and motivation.
  • Excellent command of English, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, form, and style.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to set goals and mentor others.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • An active member of the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Client management skills from intake through resolution.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, emphasizing Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both within a team and independently.
