A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Associate Attorney for their Chicago, IL office. The candidate will primarily handle regulatory aspects of energy projects across the country, particularly focusing on power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid/transmission issues in the renewable energy sector.

 

Job Overview:

  • Serve in regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase/sale, and operation.
  • Focus on power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid/transmission issues in renewable energy.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on regulatory issues related to energy projects.
  • Draft and review power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and other project documents.
  • Provide legal counsel on FERC electricity regulations and compliance matters.
  • Assist in due diligence for energy project financing and transactions.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

 

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years of legal experience with FERC electricity regulations.
  • Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy industry regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar.
