A law firm in Rochester, NY is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advanced directives, and other related documents. Additionally, experience in one or more of the following practice areas is preferred: probate, guardianship, Medicaid planning, and special needs planning.

 

Duties:

  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advanced directives, and other estate planning documents.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on estate planning matters.
  • Assist clients with probate proceedings, guardianship matters, Medicaid planning, and special needs planning.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and goals.
  • Manage caseload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals, such as financial advisors and accountants, to provide comprehensive estate planning services.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • 2+ years of experience practicing estate planning law.
  • Strong drafting skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.

 

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certification in estate planning or related field.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with estate planning software.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid planning strategies and regulations.
  • Ability to empathize with clients and address their concerns sensitively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
