The Trade Desk is seeking a highly experienced Senior Counsel to join their rapidly growing legal team in San Francisco. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of complex legal matters, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the overall success of the business. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in a nationally-recognized law firm or in-house legal department and be admitted to practice in California.

Responsibilities:

- Advise and support The Trade Desk team with legal advice to ensure the success of the business
- Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of commercial agreements, including master service agreements, supplier agreements, and insertion orders
- Continuously improve legal processes to help scale the business globally
- Provide practical and risk-tolerant advice on legal issues, complex agreements, and company policies
- Conduct legal research and advise on relevant topics such as licensing, intellectual property, data security, and privacy law
- Collaborate with business development and client service teams to address client needs
- Communicate complex legal concepts in an easy-to-understand manner

Requirements:

- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a nationally-recognized law firm or in-house legal department
- Admitted to practice in California or ability to register as In-House Counsel in California
- Juris Doctorate from a top-tier US law school
- Experience negotiating with large global companies preferred
- Strong legal skills, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with various stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing demands
- Strong business sense and judgement, with a background in advertising or digital media a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a sense of humor being a big plus
