A law firm is seeking a Labor and Employment Law Associate Attorney in White Plains, NY. The Labor and Employment Law Associate Attorney will provide legal counsel and representation on a wide range of employment law matters, including compliance, governance, arbitration, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have a background in employment law with a focus on organizational compliance and governance, with experience in education law being advantageous.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on employment law matters such as hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issues
  • Handle employee disciplinary matters, labor grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining negotiations
  • Represent clients before administrative tribunals including the Public Employment Relations Board, Office of Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and New York State Division of Human Rights
  • Manage employment-related litigation from discovery through trial, including drafting motions and conducting legal research
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures
  • Provide legal advice on education-related matters including special education services and impartial hearings
  • Collaborate with client's internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other legal teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Stay informed about developments in employment law and advise on potential impacts to the organization

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably within the public or educational sector
  • State and federal court litigation experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
