Duties:

  • Counsel clients on complex federal, state, and local tax matters.
  • Assist businesses with tax issues in transactions, including choice of entity matters, incentive ownership issuance to employees, capital formation, and cross-border transactions.
  • Consult with individuals and businesses on tax controversies and audits.
  • Demonstrate understanding of accounting, auditing, financial statements, and tax compliance.
  • Work independently with instruction and supervision from assigning attorneys.
  • Utilize strong document drafting skills for legal agreements and tax-related documents.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-7 years of experience providing clients with legal advice in a law firm or accounting firm setting.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed (or willing and able to become licensed) and in good standing to practice law in the State of Michigan.
  • LLM in Taxation strongly preferred and/or significant experience in the tax department of a CPA.
  • CPA designation or undergraduate degree in accounting preferred.

 

Skills
