Responsibilities:

- Serve as in-house counsel for University of Toledo Physicians and provide legal advice on contracts, compliance with healthcare laws and regulations
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings, working closely with leadership and key stakeholders to achieve strategic goals
- Conduct legal research and analysis on healthcare issues and advise leadership on necessary actions and changes
- Ensure compliance with laws during contractual relationship formation and cessation
- Ensure employment contracts align with legal requirements
- Support and consult on the preparation of claims, employment contracts, or other legal documentation
- Evaluate new business partnerships and provide legal advice during transactions
- Advise and support leadership in the design, change, and implementation of policies
- Collaborate with leadership to reach mutually beneficial agreements with employees, partners, vendors, and other parties
- Analyze and ensure the legality, clarity, and fairness of contracts already in place
- Ensure contracts adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Attempt to resolve disputes through negotiation or alternative dispute resolution methods
- Coordinate with affiliated entities on matters of common interest
- Represent and advise leadership in handling legal documents and proceedings
- Handle sensitive matters with care and confidentiality
- Cultivate teamwork and collaborate with outside counsel
- Other duties as assigned in support of the organization's success and overall mission

Qualifications:

- . from an ABA Accredited Law School
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio
- Good standing member of the Ohio State Bar (or able to waive in)
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
- Proficient in drafting legal documents
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare law and regulations
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to influence multiple stakeholders to achieve organizational mission
- Demonstrated integrity, respect for others, and value for teamwork and collaboration

A strong academic record and 8+ years of corporate legal experience, including contract review, are also required, with at least 5 years of experience in health law.
