- Starting salary for this position is $190,000 in the Denver office, with potential for bonuses through the associate bonus program.

Experience Information:

- Experience with video processing and codecs, particularly in the area of video encoding and decoding, is necessary.
- Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus.
- Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus.
- Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus.
- Admission to the USPTO is a plus.

Job Description:

- Seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate to join the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.
- This position can be based out of multiple offices, including Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Denver, Raleigh, or Salt Lake City.
- A minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house is required.
- Ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Must have experience with video processing and codecs, particularly in the area of video encoding and decoding.
- Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus.
- Will work with clients in various industries, as well as trade associations, nonprofits, educational institutions, governments, family trusts, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Will continuously evolve to meet clients' changing needs and expectations.
- Will be located in one of the following offices: Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Denver, Raleigh, or Salt Lake City.

Job Requirements:

- Must have at least 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house, as well as experience with portfolio management.
- Must have an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Strong knowledge and solid experience in one of the following areas: video processing and video codecs.
- Familiar with video coding standards.
- Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus, but not required.
- Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus, but not required.
- Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus, but not required.
- Must be admitted to the USPTO.
