A law firm in Philadelphia is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in molecular biology to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, specifically the Patent Development and Strategy Subgroup. The ideal candidate should have 2-5 years of experience, strong academic credentials from nationally recognized schools, and prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm. Preference will be given to candidates with registration with the USPTO and an advanced degree, preferably a ., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines. Experience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademarks is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to molecular biology inventions
  • Providing technical and legal support for patent litigation matters
  • Conducting IP due diligence for corporate transactions
  • Advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio management
  • Collaborating with attorneys and clients to develop patent strategies aligned with business goals
  • Reviewing and analyzing patent-related documents and prior art

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a related field
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • 2-5 years of experience in patent prosecution and/or patent-related matters
  • Strong academic background from nationally recognized schools
  • Prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm is preferred
  • Advanced degree, preferably a ., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences)
  • Background in life sciences, particularly biotechnology

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a related field
  • Advanced degree, preferably a ., in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines

 

Certifications:

Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

 

Skills:
