A law firm in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Biotech-Life Science Patent Prosecution/Patent Agent or Scientist with excellent academic credentials, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should possess an advanced degree (. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a comparable field. Previous experience in a law firm or industry and current admission to the USPTO are required.
Duties:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
- Conduct thorough prior art searches and analyze patent and scientific literature.
- Collaborate closely with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop effective patent protection strategies.
- Manage patent portfolios and provide support in patent litigation matters when necessary.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a law firm or industry setting.
- Admission to the USPTO.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
- Experience in biotech commercialization, such as university tech transfer, or industry commercialization/regulatory compliance is desirable.
Education:
Advanced degree (. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a relevant discipline.
Certifications:
Admission to the USPTO.
