A law firm is seeking a Lateral Corporate - Restructuring and Special Situations Finance Associate Attorney to join their team in Houston. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in representing creditors or borrowers in liability management transactions, DIP financings, bankruptcy exit financings, and special situations financings. Collaborating primarily with the Global Finance team and in tandem with the premier Business Restructuring & Reorganization team, they will handle high-profile representations of hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.

 

Duties:

  • Represent creditors or borrowers in various financial transactions, including liability management, DIP financings, bankruptcy exit financings, and special situations financings.
  • Collaborate with the Global Finance team and the Business Restructuring & Reorganization team on high-profile representations.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to corporate restructuring and finance matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including agreements, contracts, and court filings.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on restructuring and finance issues.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • 5-8 years of experience in corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and finance law.
  • Demonstrated experience representing creditors or borrowers in complex financial transactions.
  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy laws, financial regulations, and corporate finance principles.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Legal research and analysis.
