Responsibilities:
- Ensure company compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide strategic legal counsel to support business objectives
- Own compliance program with aid of outside consultants
- Minimize dependence on outside counsel to protect company from legal risks
- Monitor and assess impact of regulatory changes on company's operations
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings
- Create and update compliance policies and procedures
- Provide legal counsel on various matters
- Identify and assess legal and compliance risks
- Participate in due diligence processes for potential mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships
- Foster a culture of compliance

Competencies and Skills:
- JD from top US law school and active bar membership in good standing
- Extensive experience in compliance and legal roles within financial services industry
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide strategic guidance to senior management
- Comfort working in a fast-paced start-up/technology-centric environment
- Ability to navigate change and innovate outside the scope of existing resources

Compensation:
- Base salary starting at $180,000+ for candidates located in New York, San Francisco, and Denver.
