A law firm in New York City is seeking an experienced Lateral Business Restructuring and Reorganization Associate Attorney with 4-8 years of experience. The role will involve a mix of creditor, debtor, and distressed acquisition work, including high-profile representations in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings for hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions.

 

Duties:

  • Represent creditors, debtors, and distressed acquisition clients in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Handle high-profile, top-of-the-capital-structure representations for financial institutions, including hedge funds, CLOs, and private equity funds.
  • Manage debtor-side chapter 11 cases, including cross-border cases, and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on restructuring and bankruptcy issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and restructuring plans.
  • Participate in negotiations with opposing counsel and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to achieve client objectives.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar and eligibility to practice law in New York.
  • 4-8 years of experience in business restructuring and reorganization, preferably with a mix of creditor and debtor-side representations.
  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy laws and restructuring principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively under pressure.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar and eligibility to practice law in New York.

 

Skills:
