A law firm is seeking a Public Entity Litigation Attorney with the following responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications:

Job Overview: The Public Entity Litigation Attorney will proactively handle complex civil cases on behalf of state, local, and other governmental entities. They will work closely with the managing partner, attorneys, and staff to ensure timely completion of tasks, adhere to ethical standards, and represent sovereign governments and elected officials with integrity.

Duties:

  • Initiated and managed complex civil cases for governmental entities, including motion practice, legal research, drafting, and oral argument.
  • Conduct offensive and defensive discovery, manage witnesses, and participate in depositions, settlements, and trials.
  • Develop a deep understanding of civil procedure and local rules in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards as a legal representative of sovereign governments.
  • Create high-quality work products with minimal oversight and meet tight deadlines.
  • Occasionally travel as required.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant litigation experience.
  • Experience in public entities, consumer protection, product liability, or other complex civil litigation preferred.
  • Admitted and in good standing to practice law in at least one State.
  • Outstanding organizational, timekeeping, and communication skills.
  • IAPP certification or other privacy-related certification is preferred.
  • Admitted to practice in Texas, New Mexico, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
  • Experience in consumer protection, environmental, mass tort, and/or product liability cases.
  • Civil jury trial and e-discovery litigation experience.
  • Ability to travel to depositions, hearings, mediations, etc.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one State.
  • IAPP certification or other privacy-related certification is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proactive and effective case management skills.
  • Deep understanding of civil procedure and local rules.
  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
