Tax Senior, Unclaimed Property Tax; State and Local Tax (SALT) - Salary Information and Job Title

Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is currently seeking a Tax Senior in the Unclaimed Property Tax group. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $68,180 to $144,300, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is available in 31 locations across the United States.

Position Summary

The Tax Senior will be responsible for providing state tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors. This role requires a strong understanding of complex state unclaimed property tax issues and the ability to work on large, complex tax projects. The Tax Senior will also have the opportunity to develop supervisory and leadership skills.

Experience and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in state and local tax, with at least 1 year of experience in unclaimed property tax. A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. Additionally, candidates should have one of the following accreditations, obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner).

Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD and/or LLM, previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience, and supervisory experience. The ability to travel up to 10% of the time is also required.

Job Responsibilities

The Tax Senior will be responsible for:

- Providing state tax consulting and compliance services to clients in various industries
- Developing client, legal counsel, and state representative written communications and facilitating verbal discussions
- Performing data analysis to identify potential unclaimed property risks
- Developing and presenting strategies to mitigate potential unclaimed property exposure
- Drafting final deliverables and reports for client and state submission
- Tracking client requests and submissions and assisting with record review
- Using critical thinking skills to solve unstructured problems
- Staying up-to-date on industry and sector trends
- Reviewing work and ensuring quality, accuracy, and relevance
- Seeking opportunities for growth and exposure to different situations and perspectives
- Communicating effectively with others
