A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the candidate will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals. The position involves explaining immigration concepts, presenting strategic solutions, and handling diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and manage a caseload, including client interaction.
  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage the workload of cases and conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review immigration applications/packets and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine necessary strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to determine possible case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of Immigration Law Experience.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

State Bar license.

 

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law concepts and procedures.
  • Excellent case management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software.
