A law firm in Portland is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Litigation Associate Attorney with experience in complex civil litigation defense. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong legal research abilities, and demonstrated trial experience. The Mid-Level to Senior Litigation Associate Attorney will play a crucial role in all phases of litigation, from legal research and drafting pleadings to appearing in hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and trials. They will manage files, handle multiple tasks, and work in a deadline-driven environment.

 

Duties:

  • Serve in all phases of litigation with increasing responsibility for file management.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Review and propound discovery requests and responses.
  • Manage case files and maintain organized documentation.
  • Appear and present arguments at hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
  • Demonstrate trial experience and/or trial preparation experience.
  • Handle cases in complex civil litigation defense areas such as personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, construction defect, contract, and employment law.
  • Collaborate with partners and legal staff to develop case strategies and tactics.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in Oregon; Washington experience is a plus.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in complex civil litigation defense.
  • 2+ years of private law firm practice.
  • Strong academic record with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
