In our constantly changing world, the role of a State and Local Tax Manager is more important than ever. As a Manager in our Income Franchise practice, you will have the opportunity to help our clients navigate these complex tax issues and develop solutions that support their overall business objectives.

Responsibilities:

Lead a team of tax professionals to provide state and local tax services to clients.
Assess clients' state and local tax burden and recommend solutions to minimize tax liability.
Stay up-to-date on local tax developments and communicate them to clients.
Develop strategies for clients to manage and optimize state and local tax burdens.
Identify opportunities for clients to benefit from changes in tax legislation and administrative policies.
Assist with income and franchise tax controversies and provide support for audits.
Provide guidance and coaching to team members to support their professional development.
Analyze complex ideas and proposals and make recommendations based on a variety of sources of information.
Ensure work meets the expectations of the firm and the client.
Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.

Qualifications:

4+ years of experience in state and local tax, CPA or other relevant certification required.
Knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations, including multi-state income tax planning, compliance, and audit defense.
Experience with FAS 109, unitary filing, apportionment methodologies, and tax base rules.
Strong technical skills in tax research, compliance, and consulting.
Ability to build and maintain client relationships and networks.
Experience as a team leader, including coaching and providing feedback.
Familiarity with CRM systems and alternative fee arrangements.
Knowledge of automation and digitization in a professional services environment.
Ability to analyze large data sets and use data visualization tools.
Understanding of pricing strategies and alternative fee arrangements.

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 4+ years of experience in state and local tax. A CPA or other relevant certification is required, and a Master's degree is preferred. You should have a strong understanding of state and local tax laws and regulations, as well as technical skills in tax research, compliance, and consulting. Experience with FAS 109, unitary filing, apportionment methodologies, and tax base rules is also necessary.

In addition to technical skills, you will need strong leadership abilities and the ability to build and maintain client relationships and networks. You should also be familiar with CRM systems and alternative fee arrangements, and have knowledge of automation and digitization in a professional services environment. The ability to analyze large data sets and use data visualization tools is also important, as well as an understanding of pricing strategies and alternative fee arrangements.
